Did you know: 80% of Christians will lose their faith in and after college? This shocking number makes me wonder, did those individuals have a true relationship with Christ to start with?

Yo! My name is Sarah, I grew up in the Bible Belt, and have heard the gospel hundreds of times, but I have news:

Hearing the gospel and calling yourself a Christian does not mean you have a relationship with Christ.

I once called myself a Christian but lacked a relationship and awe for the Lord. I knew all the right “answers”, but did not know the person. I was once tired by the way life wore me out because I was trying to do all the “good things” on my own, but I still rejected the gift of rest offered to me.

But God.

By the Lord’s gift of grace, I have been redeemed. I now stand in awe of the holiness, sovereignty, sacrifice, and love of God (among other things:). I am now blessed by a relationship with the same God who created the entire world and who conquered death. I have rest because I am justified by grace through the blood of God. Now, I strive to be sanctified (become more like Christ) and continue learning the Lord’s character, growing in wisdom, and striving to serve more selflessly.

I have been transformed, but I still remember my life before Christ. It is my hope to help you to see the gift available to you, the gift that brings true joy, peace, and hope.

That statistic I mentioned at the beginning has driven me to look at the way the church has been discipling high schoolers. I too attended youth group and saw the holes in their reach. Through this ministry, it is my hope to create a community where high school girls are being discipled and discipling their peers, where we do not just call ourselves Christians, but are growing together in awe of the Lord and his goodness because He is worthy of it all.

On a lighter note: I am a big celery lover, I am terrified of ladybugs, and I train future service dogs. I love to chat about ANYTHING. My insta DMs are always open, so hop over and say hi.

Love,

All About August Ministries

What is August Ministries?

August Ministries is a ministry working to reach high school girls with the message of the gospel to inspire awe for the Lord. We hope to do this by creating discipleship communities centered around intentional conversation.

Why "August"?

The adjective August means “Inspiring Reverence or Admiration”. The heart of the ministry is to inspire awe for the Lord. As this ministry was coming together, it needed a name. Since the heart of the ministry is to inspire awe for the Lord, we were praying for a name that would reflect the mission and vision. The Lord truly does answer prayers. I was reading The Holiness Of God by R.C. Sproul and read the line “To be august is to be awe-inspiring” which then lead us to discovering the definition of August which you read above. We are so grateful to have a name that reflects the heart of the ministry while reminding us of the one who is deserving of our awe.

How does the ministry work?

August Ministries works by setting up and equipping  discipleship groups in high schools or with local high school students. It upholds a discipleship model where August Ministries serves, mentors, and equips the student leaders and then those leaders do the same in their community.
